Dance teaching and movement education
Sound Environments and Free Movement
Observation and Documentation
Emerging from the project “Paisajes Sonoros” (Soundscapes), a multidisciplinary dialogue with children’s culture in which a visual artist, a molecular biologist, a poet, an anthropologist, a music composer, an ethnomusicologist, a cook and a dancer all collaborated, this new research project was born in 2016 to explore the relationship between listening and the child’s body as a physical, bodily and dynamic experience.
Sound is vibration, movement. Everything that moves has a sound. Therefore, we are vibration and we are sound. Sound and movement are intrinsically connected.
We work together with Joan Manuel Chouciño and Antonio Izquierdo, dancer and choreographer, both artists who are part of our educational team.
We are not interested in applying a specific teaching method, nor do we intend to “teach” music or dance to children. Instead, we seek to continue interpreting and understanding the complex ways in which they experience the sound environment around them, observing this relationship through the body.
The Research Project on Television
The municipal nursery school El Pi del Soldat received a visit from the production team of the TV programme DEUWATTS, from the channel betevé, who came to film a session of the research project “I am Sound and Body” in the listening room.
